HYPOCRISY-Band For Depressed?

Is the music depressive or is it music for depressed people? When I feel depressed I listen to very violent metal.

If you mean the music is depressive, I can agree as some of the riffs are kind of sad-sounding, as well as songs like "Paled Empty Sphere" and "Living to Die".

I agree with you. Sure, not all songs are in depressive mood but some of them.

Why didn't you mention "The Abyss"? It's so fuckin' hellish and dark... I have no words to characterize it.

I think that such rather instrumental then metallic songs like "Paled Empty Sphere", "Slipin' Away", "Drained" more passive mood for having some relaxation then such cool heavy "Living to Die" & "Deathrow (No Regrets)", saying nothing of "The Final Chapter" -- № 1 my list. Sure, after "The Abyss"!:headbang:
 
Yes, Into The Abyss is such apocalyptic and dark album...agreed :kickass:

And ' FromHereToDeath ' has mentioned very good 'depressive' setlist...don't know why, but song 'The Departure' is for me one of the most depressive stuff I've ever heard...not in the meaning of some doom metal style...but don't know...I feel like I am disappearing from earth every time I am listening to that song :headbang:
 
Well it certainly isn't happy music but it isn't particularly depressing. I have never felt sadder when listening to Hypocrisy then with another band. There are of course the certain songs like Living to Die that are really emotional IMO.

I consider the music of HYPOCRISY and other bands I enjoy to be "feel good" music!! If I'm pissed about something, I turn up the stereo! Jam to Hypocrisy or Pain! If it's depressive than maybe its the person!!!!
 
Each one of those songs has it's own uniqueness!! The melodies are slow and heavy. Thats what's cool about HYPOCRISY. The sound isn't always the same like some black metal bands! When they played "The Final Chapter" on they're current tour, I was moshing in the pit with everyone else! Not so depressing but so amazing!!!

HYPOCRISY RULES!!

I get caught up in the atmosphere, I don't really get any negative vibe from them, they're just slow and dark and beautiful, not sad (like some whiney vocal guy boohooing on some emo song ya know, that's depressing)
 
I would say some middle period Hypocrisy has some depressing moments(not like i'm going to kill myself feeling). I thought depression,doubt,despair was pretty typical to deal with in life. 'the arrival' has some depressing songs but a comforting feel. I guess that's just how peter takes his approach to emotion imo. I don't see it as negative just exploring deeper into a feeling/emotion. Since at one point he become the main front person he can express himself more than say in the past when he was just a guitarist. He can vocally and musically get things across pretty well. Sometimes the world is pretty bleak and you're tired or worn alone with inner struggles. I think hypocrisy resembles that sometimes.
