Why is the bass nearly inaudible for most of the new Atheist album?
It's ATHEIST, the bass is not just there to serve as frequency filling, it's a crucial part of the fucking music, TURN IT UPPPPPP.

Didn't hear about it till now. Im loving it so far and it made me realise how tired I am of growling vocals in metal (they sound so fucking the same, no personality at all)

Well, Tony Choy left the band right before they recorded the album & their new guitarist recorded all the bass lines.

I like to hear bass too. Too many productions these days scoop out the bass in preference for the kick drum. Gehy.

All the dubbed out Bill Laswell related free jazz stuff I started listening to a couple of years has made me want more bass in every other genre.
