I'm pretty stoked guys. This place has a Neve 9098i (one of 13 in the world from Olympia Studios in London) and tons of outboard gear, a ridiculous mic locker and an awesome live room. It is Sonic Lounge Studios in Grove City, OH.

I'm going in tomorrow to set up a session from start to finish with the chief engineer and learn the board. I couldn't be happier, especially to learn from a dude that has 20 years of studio engineering under his belt.

:headbang:

Lol, I really hope so man. I'm going to be responsible for finding my own clients, but I don't think it should be that hard given how many bands I have access to on a weekly basis.

Here is a sample of a track that was recorded at the studio recently. This song is mixed, but pre-master.

I owe a lot to the wealth of information on this forum. You guys have really taught me a lot and I'm going to run with it.

It's going to be a little bit weird for me switching from mixing ITB to OTB. He told me he does about 90% of work (including automation) on the console itself. I'm a little iffy about switching to Pro Tools from Logic too, but he said if it's an issue we can definitely install Logic on a separate partition for me to use. Really since I will be using the console more or less for mixing and using Pro Tools as if it were a tape machine I don't think it'll be a big issue to switch.

Super huge congrats. Joe seems like a nice guy and you'll help boast a fresh client list.

sounds nice, what is the band?

They are called ofHuman

I did their artwork for the CD (and their current myspace page), which was sent to press at Discmakers today.

I was there for the whole thing... about 80% natural drums with 20% samples recorded from the drummer's kit to augment. Kick was a Yamaha subkick, and an EV868, snare I think was a 57 on top and I'm not sure on bottom (I wish I paid more attention, I love the snare sound on this record)... toms were EV468s on top, and I think it was the AKG414 on bottom. Overheads were R84s and room mics were Neumann KM183s. Bass was Sansamp into Ampeg SVX. Guitars were a mix of Mesa Dual Rec, Bogner Extacy, and Marshall, mic'd up with a 421, 57, 906, and a 414. Vocals were done w/ Shure KSM44.

congrats dude! I wish you the best of luck on this new studio. When i got hired on the studio i work on, it was the best feeling in the world (unlike now heeheh). Congrats!
