Not true. There are lots of things you can't test for until they reach a certain point and a whole lot more things that you can only define by their behavior. For example, a cold generally lasts no more than 2 weeks (with the exception of the occasional residual stubborn cough) and gets worse for the first half and better for the second. A doctor that tells you to go home and come back later rather than running a bunch of expensive tests is just as likely to be a basically honest person as a lazy one who's not listening to or trusting you. You just need more than just that one thing to go on.

Oh, and I'm sorry you feel icky and I hope your better soon!
