Sounds like you had a fantastic time, Folklore and RashomoN. Wish I could have been there...I love the Blackfield album. IMO the title track is one of the most beautiful songs Steven Wilson has ever written. Do you have a set list? I was just wondering whether they played any Porcupine Tree songs...

they played almost all Blackfield songs (except 2-3....can't remember exactly)
and 2 new songs : "Epidemic" (great one) and "Miss You"....
and Porcupine Tree's "Feel so Low" (sometimes they play it in english and hebrew.....but thank god they played the original this time) :)

I liked the idea that Steven made the guitar solo longer in some of the songs.....

and the song "Blackfield" is a real great song indeed.

So is it just me who can't stand aviv geffen and as a consequence can't stand blackfield?
But i have to admit :The first time i heard אנחנו דור מזויין as We are a fucked up generation, It totally cracked me up! so i guess i owe them for the chukles :)

(yeah yeah... i am new here, orphaned land kick ass and all :D)

Well, personally, I'm not familiar with Aviv Geffen's solo material (yet); don't even know whether his cds are available over here. So to those of you who know and actually like his music: which album would you recommend to begin with?

I recommend you not to bother yourself....
:)

his albums are not that good.....and they are in hebrew ofcourse
altough i think he's a great song writer.....so he got his chance to show it to the world with the help of the god of music (Steven).....
but it is more than help....cause Steven is a great producer as well....and the songs sound better after he touched them....(I've been to the studios where they recorded the Blackfield album.....and I've seen the process)

by the way.....4 years ago I found all Aviv's records in my beloved city Berlin (in ProMarkt store).....I was really surprised......
it was long before Aviv and Steve made the Blackfield album.....

You know, as much as I like Opeth, but of the "Lamentations" dvd I've watched the studio report with Steven Wilson much more often than the Shepherd's Bush gig... :p

Did he really say that ???o_O
Yeah, I'm afraid it's true. He really said it. I was there and even wrote it down back then. That night, PL delivered a very boring performance and understandably the audience wasn't impressed. The most memorable really were Nick's sarcastic remarks throughout the whole show. Mind you, that was in 2003, they were "slightly" more entertaining this year.
You know, I've been listening to PL since the release of Gothic and only go and see them for "sentimental" reasons these days. ;)

oh god....how could he said that???
damn......
:)
are you from Stuttgart?

Yeah.....I think Steven did a great job with Opeth.....though a lot of people say he ruined them (Damnation album).....he only produced the album...didn't write the songs.....
he also produced an album to a norwegian singer, Anja Garbarek.....and she has real strange music (influenced by Jazz.....her father is a famous and great sax player).....
thats why I think he's amazingly talented.....

Well actually Steven did write one song on the album, Death Whispered a Lullaby, but I love it as much as every other song on that cd!
I only have Blackwater Park, Deliverance and Damnation (not counting Lamentations, their dvd), all produced by the allmight Steven!
Im looking forward to the new Opeth record this autumn :).

Yeah, I moved here nearly three years ago to start a new job. It's quite a nice city to live in, actually, I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of cool gigs in and around Stuttgart also. Saw Nuclear Assault last night, they played a storming set (including the first "country-metal" song I've heard in my life...). Old school thrash metal is definitely still very much alive and kicking. Make sure to check them out if they play anywhere near you. :headbang:
