I knew him. Not well. But I'd known him for a long time.

Just wanted to say I miss him.

I knew Paul very well...............He was the John Belushi of Thrash Metal........
he was a true, no bullshit kind of guy.......he was funny.......he was heavy.....
he was a great frontman......he lived Metal......he drank & partied, & had fun at all times...he was real........he had a good heart.......he lived hard & fast.......he could give a shit about personal posessions.......he gave me the shirt off his back(last live show he ever played, he gave me his Exodus t-shirt, that he performed in, cause they ran out)......he had a presence about him......
he will live with the classic music he left us with........We had some great times together..........I miss him very much!

DE, that last show in Sac? January 6, 2001... Even if it wasn't, the day following that show was about as painful a day as I remember (beer and headbanging don't mix well...) Pinned to the stage in the front row, Paul shoved the mic in my face and let me belt out a line (damn, can't remember the song) but I couldn't do it right. Afterwards, he said to me 'Good try'... Gary falling into us tripping over the monitor...The driver who we spoke to in the parking lot, (going a million miles an hour...:Spin:) -- I wear the same shirt to all winter metal shows since, sorta a wierd tribute, you'll allways recognize me in the same faded flannel...

I didn't know him, either (don't know anyone, for that matter) but I enjoy getting an idea from you all...thanks...

Yes it was Sacramento, I remember Paul singing, & a big piece of grey duct tape was stuck in his hair, never forget that night........he was drinking Southern Comfort backstage, straight........I'll look for your faded flannel, next time I'm up in Sacramento, lets talk & have a beer?

Thanks for the offer, DE, I never turn down a beerdrinking opportunity...that's if Sac can ever host a metal band again, just doesn't have the draw...look for me in the Bay...

I distinctly remember Paul coming out on stage with a Bud in hand. (A chaser to that SoCo?) My brother-in-law who was behind me leaned into me and said "That dude's hammered!", and then the carnage began...

Paul also greeted us at the entrance when we got in, and if I remember right, he was wearing this yellow jacket, kinda like a windbreaker that, shit, together with that hair reminds me of that guy in the beer commercial who got rescued and punched out 'Bryan Henderson of Twelve Maple Lane". On stage, though, without the jacket, he looked just like he did the month before in Concord, some kinda jersey with shorts and tall socks -- man, if I don't ever think I look metal, he defined the term 'doesn't look metal'... what a night...
