I never knew people ate baby horseshoe crabs before

They are for sale in buckets at the fish market next door to my school, still semi-alive, most of them about the size of hockey pucks.

how do you eat it? break it up like a regular crab?

If it is soft shell you eat it whole.

Once your face is stuffed you try to chew. it will spill on the sides but it is how its done.... try to not spit on your neighbor

for regular crabs I know that works, but horseshoe crabs have tons of those inedibly feathery gills and plastic-like fins and stuff, don't they? maybe not the softshell baby ones.

I'd like to try it, but I'm not going to be the one who chances cooking it.

according to wikipedia, horseshoe crabs are more closely related to spiders and scorpions than crabs!

Horseshoe crabs rival sharks as a lifeform that exists in almost exactly as it did millions of years ago according to the fossil record, so think of it more like you're eating a dinosaur.
