I present to you a 3.9mb video of my band covering Candlemass!

i didnt like the use of death vocals but your clean guitar was awesome.

nicely done will but the unneeded death vocals ruined the song for me.

meh. picky picky picky picky picky. actually, they weren't unneeded. we had 3 people there that were able to do vocals. not all of them could sing. it's also a part of the song that is very powerful. why not back up that power with powerful growls? either way... thanks for listening and saying 'nicely done' at least, heh...

The vocals are : BAD, HORRIBLE, SHIT.
The guy just cant sing. I hope he is not making the regular clean vocals in your band
Also as GroundXeroblabla said the brutal vocals (screams whatever) just dont fit. Its not neccesary that they make a song better (especially if they are not powerfull).
The song is covered faithfully (except of the solo - no luck there) -the sound is bad though, so no proper judgment can be said. In the end of the song - a total murder of the original is done.

so much for wanting to show everyone a cool little video that i thought you all would enjoy, because i know the most of you are Candlemass fans.

i think a proper 'fuck you' is in order for that horrendous bashing of my band, cause you just made a giant asshole of yourself

dude, he never said "distorted mind sucks" he just said he thought the cover sucked and gave his opinions why. its part of the game will, if you wanna have a band you have to be prepared for the "distorted mind sucks" comments.

truthfully, when i first heard the band months ago, i thought you guys were horrible but as i listened on and watched the videos, i now think that you guys are a decent band with a shitload of potential. it wouldn't suprise me if you guys are playing wacken or dynamo in 7-10 years.

the best way to handle this is to turn it into motivation. or to write a song called "IoftheStorm touches donkeys where they pee". :tickled:

Bill's actually pretty damn good, I think. Obviously no Messiah, but his take on the melodies is pretty cool. The second verse is kinda meh; partially due to the sound, partially cause he kinda runs out of breath.

The death growls are fine until they start getting kinda shrieky ("Aaaashes to AAASHES!"); maybe figure out some way around that. Do a growl-clean duet with Bill's vox higher in the mix.

The solo is mostly inaudible to me, but what I can hear is decent. The riffing works nicely, and you guys have great showmanship. Overall, pretty cool stuff. Like the Dream Evil reference at the end. :D

Up next, "A Sorcerer's Pledge."

Yeah. I don't know how Bill can be classified as "horrible"... He did a great job. Plus, for not having any 'professional' experience, and for his age... it was damn good, as you said. The second verse was 'meh' because he knew about half of it

talk to Bill and Max about that one. i did the lower :tickled:

Yeah... It was because how I had my amp set up. you would be able to hear my guitar better if I had the proper wire connecting the head with the cabinet... my mistake haha

Up next, "A Sorcerer's Pledge.

I ignore the lame comments and i just have to say these:
1. If you wanted to hear only positive comments, then you shouldnt post it here. There is no rule to say that everyone must like it
2. Accept the fact that some people might NOT like the cover or your band. You are not Iron Maiden. Its not neccesary that all Candlemass fans will like this cover. I know many who would say that it is a sacrilege etc (or even worst comments)
3. Accept the negative comments and not only the positive ones. If you will talk like this to anyone who says a negative comment about your band, then you will fail. No band became a good band thinking that they are "so good that i cant be bad in any case"
4. If the people who commented the video were not people you know, the comments would be FAR worse than mine.
thank me now

Hey Will... I hope this piece of advice will help you.

Granted, I have not seen the video yet, I think it's only fair to assume that no matter where you post this link, SOMEONE is not going to like it. And of all the people that don't like it, only a very select few will actually say they don't like it. And vice versa. People will also like it, and some people will just say they like it. Now, I'm not trying to say that's all that is going on here... it's just something that I've noticed to happen in my experiences.

The most important thing for you to do is to keep your faith in yourself and your band. The only people that really truly absolutely HAVE to like your music is you. And if you do, then you're already 10 steps ahead of the game. Write and play your songs with conviction, like it's the last time you'll ever be able to. Fall in love with your art, and pretty soon, petty comments like the ones posted here won't mean anything to you. They simply turn into traction for your tires to keep you charging ahead.

Keep going man, and NEVER SAY DIE. I know you love what you do, so don't let anyone else bring you down!

With that said, I intend to check out this video when I get home tonight and have the bandwidth :)

i'mnot letting anyone bring me down, and i dont expect ANYBODY to like my band... and i can guarantee that at least half of the people here that say they like my band... really DON'T like us. what i DO expect of everyone on this board is to give a good reason why they dont like it instead of some immature "IT WAS SHIT! THE VOCALS SUCK, THEYRE HORRIBLE!!"

i dont expect good comments, i expect reasonable, well thought out reasons why someone wouldnt like it... which IoftheStorm started to do with the "growls were unnecessary". i can see that... but we dont have to copy the song exactly as it was written. we can play it how we want. i respect his opinion, i just dont respect how he went about saying it.
