Just wanted to start a thread on this particular guitar because there is not a lot of info out there on it.

Last month in Vancouver/R&R Tour I saw Ben Bruce of Asking Alexandria rocking both a white and black FR1620. Had no idea at the time what they were, but really loved the style and configuration. So did my research and started looking around....nothing used (e.g ebay) or even new. Very hard to locate! Then asked Long & McQuade to check their computer system for the model # and turns out there was actually one in Vancouver, priced below cost - & 2008 stock!! Obviously a sales dud. But at below cost what heck, I hda them send it to me.

The Prestige series is made in Japan, Ibanez top of the line. This guitar is very nice, pretty close to the standard of my Larrivee RS4, which is the best electric I've ever played.

the FR series was intended as a model that could do metal to classic rock to country etc. in a stylized tele type body. I like less knobs and with two that is cool. Also the 5 way pickup switch is interesting: Humbucker bridge, single coil bridge, twin buckers, neck single, neck 'bucker. Has a tight end bridge, really thin profile Wizard neck. I loaded it up with heavy gauge 11-56 and had to torque the truss rod up quite a bit to hold adjustment.

the CCR pickups are really good, quiet/clean and decent grunt. The guitar has exceptional sustain and resists feedback so I was able to bring my stack/combo and sub system easily to full playing volume. Very light comfortable guitar, intonation is accurate. The tight end bridge is fully adjustable and easy to rest on.

Comes with plus custom-fitted hardshell case so overall I think a great value at the "street" price - if you can find one. I'd sure would have like one in white! Beefs - the volume knob is more like an on-off switch and hard to turn. And the pickup selector is only really applicable to cleaner amp settings. Not sure about using the 11-56 ga strings, they feel stiffer on this guitar than say our ES335.

Hey i just picked up a black one last night !! Got it used for $400 and it is pristine !! Have'nt plugged it in yet but it plays like butter. Being a hard rock/metal player im hoping the pups have some decent S. Duncan like output . But love the look and feel of this baby !!
