Pro Tools has got me to fucking fed up

just last night, after vocal tracking on my bands pre-pro EP, I tried bouncing the completed songs, and god damn pro tools decides to fuck up on me right before it finishes bouncing. Now nothing in the project will bounce, and the whole program randomly just shuts off without any warning or notice. Just POOF gone.....

And not only that - the god damn live bouncing!!!! FUCK THAT!!!!

I have one last thing to say before I switch to reaper

FUCK YOU PRO TOOLS

/end rant

Try trashing your databases. They may be a little corrupt if you havent done so. Also, dont bounce to disk if you can avoid it. Bounce through the internal bussing or go out of the main and route back into another input and bounce that way.

And fyi... live bouncing is essential for those who use outboard gear during mixing. Also, maybe its just me but i dont trust any non real time bounces... i just dont see how or why you would want or need that. I'm sure it sounds fine, its just a bit weird to me. But hey, just my two cents.

You're not using a cracked version are you?

+1 to this. I hate the bounce to disc function. I would rather print the track in the playlist. I have never had a problem printing a final mix this way.

Not a cracked version. Friends old version of 7.4

I do have a couple cracked plugs :/

Been resetting everything, nothings working. That trasher thing is for mac and I'm on windows, but I used digi's program for trashing which does the same thing.

How do you go about printing tracks w/o bouncing to disk?? I have thousands of wav files that are all peiced together and edited for all the gtr and bass parts. Could that be why I'm having these issues?

I haven't had these issues on smaller projects.

Route the master to a bus and record said bus to a new stereo track.

It probably isn't the edits however you can create duplicate playlists for all of the tracks (hold alt) and then select the whole song and "consolidate selection." This creates a new contiguous wave file.

This is the one I use for PC

There's also the Tech Support Utility that does the same things, but doesn't work (like any other Digi software  )

The tech supt utility will also generate a plugin version list

Not really related, but hard to believe nowadays that Digi used to put FREE Pro Tools out back in the day. It's been a while and came a long way...

Oh I see you were talking plug ins. Doesn't PT8 have a feature where you can open the project without any of the plug ins active?

hold shift when opening the session, not sure when that function was implemented.
Be aware that routing with Virtual instruments may get changed

Then ctrl+start+alt (control+command+option) and click on each insert row to reactivate

I used protools once....could never get my head around it after starting with ableton and then going on to sonar.Eventually i just cracked and bought in my own laptop with sonar, took all the wavs from the source folder put em all on position and redid all automation. Took me ages but I got the mix done and I have never once looked back on Tools.
