My first time with Bruce!

I saw them there 3 years ago (8/15/00) and they were great. I have friends in Royal Oak (has since moved to FL), Troy, and Sterling Heights. We had row FFF (I think) which was 6th row from the stage. I wound up catching one of Nicko's drumsticks during the last song before the encores and then believe it or not, I caught another one during the encore!!! I gave that one to my friend who got the tickets.

I saw them last week at MSG. Great show. Have fun!!!

and whats in rows AAA-FFF ?? is that the mosh pit?? blah ..and do those seats go up really high so u can hardly see shit on the stage?? pearl jam concert a few years back was like that..

My bad. I was in row F, left section...still 6th row though.

From what I remember AAA-FFF were not obstructed in any way. It was not a mosh pit, just orchestra seating.

Oh my God! It still has not sunk in yet that I was really there. I had to keep reminding myself that I wasn’t watching my Rock in Rio DVD. Not only were our seats already better than I ever could have hoped for, but we snuck down even further and were less than ten rows from the stage. I could have easily lobbed a basketball and hit Bruce.

They only did one new song and Wicker Man off BNW. Everything else was older. The first 5 songs or so were just from Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind. From what I can remember:

Number of the Beast
The Trooper
Die With Your Boots On
Revelations
Hallowed Be Thy Name
New song
The Clansman
The Clairvoyant
(big 12’ Edward the Great comes walking out)
Wicker Man
Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden
(big Eddie head comes up. Looks like the one on the “Visions” DVD cover)
2 Minutes to Midnight (heard from parking lot. We left around then to beat the crowd, but I’m sure they had to do a couple more like Run to the Hills)

Bruce had a great little speech about downloading music and why the record labels care so much. He basically said people download rather than buy because most the bands these days suck and no one wants to buy them. Bruce encouraged cameras and recorders at the show.

We came in at the end of Motorhead, but caught all of Dio. He opened with Killing the Dragon, did a few I’ve never heard including an old Rainbow song, and the ones I did know were:

Rainbow in the Dark
Stand Up and Shout
Last in Line
Dream Evil
The Mob Rules
Holy Diver/Heaven and H e l l /another Rainbow song Medley

It was pretty packed there. Surprisingly, the seats we snuck down to were the only ones around us not claimed.

I believe I saw you there Snow. Vanden Plas shirt? If that was you I was back like 20 rows so obviously I couldn't go up to meet you since the guards check your ticket like every 10 rows. It probably was a good thing anyway since I was drunker than hell. Great show although the sound kinda blew, and I couldn't see Iron Maiden's drummer at all. Where was Aces High??? And why did Dio play an edited version of Holy Diver? That was gay.

Yup! I always wear the VP shirt. We played it smooth and snuck an extra 10 rows. It was SOOOO SWEET!!!

Wat did Maiden close with? The last song I heard was 2 Minutes to Midnight.

I saw Maiden last night in Pittsburgh. They performed excellently... and I actually thought they were much better than when I saw them 3 years ago. They were very tight, powerful and Bruce sounded incredible... and had such presence. However, I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the EXTREME brevity of their "headlining" set. A mere 13 songs in a quaint 75 minutes!?!? RIPOFF! I don't think anybody in the crowd believed they were done after 75 minutes. Oh well.

Dio put on a fine performance. Though I can't really enjoy his albums anymore... I still enjoyed his performance with the exception of a few weak newer tracks. I was pleased to hear "Stargazer". Dio's voice is great as ever and the crowd was crazy for him. Heck, he played almost as long as Maiden! The keyboardist had George Washington hair and was extremely flamboyant. I loved his exaggerated movements.

Motorhead does nothing for me.
