I'm not sure I'll enjoy Schecter for a long time

Does it really matter that much where it's made? It's still made with the same materials, by the same fucking underpaid workers, in the same type of sweaty, stuffy factory.

I couldn't give a crap as to the where in the world my guitars are made, so long as they're made well. I only own one Schecter but it feels solid, plays well and sounds good, so no complaints here.

Made in China, made in Indonesian
No more Made in South Korea in near futur

They stamp a "USA" on the metal plate behind every guitar but it only means they've set it up there

I like those guitars but I personally only trust guitars made in 3 places: Japan, USA and South Korea

yeah man, same goes for LTD, used to be great guitars,
now, just regular cheap shit ...

Agreed, if they play good who cares where they're made? The "built in US"-tag is overrated
...Says the guy with a USA built signature guitar.
I think musical instruments and equipment are things that the first world really does better than anyone else. That said, if you are buying a sub-$1k guitar your options are quite limited. I do think it's worth considering the working conditions of where you're getting stuff. Ultimately though most people are going to make decisions based on quality in their budget.

I knew they already made some guitars in Indo and China, but I thought they still made the Blackjacks and Hellraisers in Korea... not anymore?

Things got bad when they started coating the guitars in the plastic they call a finish. Those guitars just do not resonate.

This is why I could never get into Schecters, they have no resonance from the two inch thick coating of plastic on the guitars. Other than that their baseball bat for necks and the fact that all crabcore/risecore/sturgiscore bands (and wannabe bands) and every other emo fuck either play or want to play Schecter.

FWIW, the LTD line went to shit when they moved their factory from South Korea to Indonesia. The quality control got a lot worse and they started picking up a Schecter ripoff vibe most likely because they are now being built in the same factory. Of course the lower LTD models under the 1K were always Made in Indonesia, but the 1K models have suffered since they have been made in Indonesia as well.

What?

I have a 2012 LTD MH 1000 and the new Schecter Blackjack SLS and both are made in South Korea.

LTD 1000/Signature series and Schecter Hellraiser/Blackjack/Custom/Artist series still made in SK.

My schecter doesn't say where its made? It was made in 02. Any one know where they made them 10 years ago? It's a 006 elite.

I had a newer Hellraiser at one point, and traded it for a EC1000. Poor poor decision, the hellraiser played way better. Probably one of the best playing guitars I've ever owned to be honest, don't let the not made in America part scare you.

The thing is... is that every little adjustment can change the feel of the guitar. The gauge of the strings. How tight you have the truss rod. Innotation. Height of the pivot screws. The nut. The claw. Etc. So many little factors before you start talking about wood.

006 Elite from 02 would've been Korea.

Thanks. good to know. I love this guitar. plays like butter if I set it up correctly each time something is changed. Even switching from drop to standard tuning requires an adjustment . seems like these guitars don't hold value though. I looked around to sell it and they only go for about 2-$300. I think I paid close to $800 band new

Yeah, I have a C-1 Stealth I bought new in 2003 for like $450 through MusiciansFriend and it's still one of my favorite guitars. Resonates like no other. That was Schecter's best era, the 2000-2004 period.

And so little of that matters when you're dealing with shitty wood to begin with.

Who gives a fuck where it's made; a good guitar is a good guitar. Chances are you're more likely to end up with a dud when it's mass produced out of what we'd define as a 'shitty' country, but you're still going to find some gems in the pile. Same goes for custom built US guitars - it could be custom built anywhere in the fucking world and it's still probably going to be a wicked instrument if the people making it don't suck ass.
