NEW YORK - Readers hungry for a good thriller can get ready to welcome an old friend: A new Hannibal Lecter novel, "Behind the Mask," is coming next fall.

"Thomas Harris is the premier novelist of psychological suspense of our time," said Irwyn Applebaum, president and publisher of the Bantam Dell Publishing Group, which announced the book's release Thursday.

"Millions of readers in 25 languages have wondered how Dr. Lecter developed his particular appetite for evil. This novel will satisfy their curiosity."

Film rights for "Behind the Mask" have been acquired by the Dino DeLaurentiis Company, which produced the Hannibal movies, "Red Dragon" and "Hannibal."

I must say I'm not mad about the title, but let's hope the film version turns out better than "Hannibal" did. The words "steaming" and "pile" can't even begin to describe that abomination.

He might be upset. I, on the other hand, am enraged :yell:.

(There's that "yell" smiley again. I do so enjoy using it.)

Don't bother with Hannibal. Total waste of time and money. Silence and Dragon are, however, classics of the genre that belong in everyone's DVD collection. Now go and buy them.

Someone told me all about Silence Of The Lambs, so its ALMOST like ive seen it...

I actually liked 'Hannibal', but I can understand why people are disappointed with it. I don't know how this new Lecter book will turn out. Harris only wrote 'Hannibal' because he was pressured to, and he made it so much of a gross-out that people hated it and he had to change the ending for the film. I was under the impression he did that on purpose, so he could lay the series to rest, and now he's doing a fourth. Wrathy, you and I have to get published. Look at the money you can make!
