I don't think WD's trying to start a cult or anything...I think he's just telling ppl to "create their own religions" or live by their own set of rules,since that's pretty much what a religion is-a set of rules that ppl are told to follow...and a god,too.But gods are ususally what fuck religions up because of what the "God"allows and doesn't allow.

I think the meaning is to create your own way of life, having your own beliefs, listen to yourself and find what you really need. This quote has nothing to do with religion, at least in my opinion.
