Just got their new album. Great stuff. One of the best Aussie bands in ages.

Forget Wolfmother, forget Jet (Yawn)... these guys are the real deal.

Subdued intelligent mellow/hard rock.

I like.

Interesting, Alias. Just when you posted I was reading a story on them in Rip It Up mag (that must bring back memories!!!) and wondering what they're like.

Hahaha... Rip it up!!!

Great local rag ;)

Imagine Muse meets Tool meets well.... They are not heavy as such - kinda a more intelligent Grinspoon but better. Give em a whirl.

Cool - will check them out sometime. Hey aren't you glad to be in Melbourne these days and not back here with all the bands flying over our heads to Perth.

Megadeth, Ministry, Machine Head, Kreator, Exodus, there've been dozens - and the list is growing by the week!!! At least BLS is stopping by!!!

Yer its great. Its a shame man about my home town though. Adelaide is great but I get so pissed when the crowds don't turn out (Anthrax in 2005). Melbourne has a real hardcore dedicated metal following here. I wish Adelaide's metal heads (who I know plenty of) would get out there and prove Adelaide crowds can be good and turn out in numbers.

Well Butterfly Effect on the 19th. BLS, Avenged Sevenfold and Yngwie J Malmsteen coming up. Local bands are pretty good too.

Of course I am still getting over Queensryche from the other week. Amazing!

Yeah that Adelaide crowd was bad wasn't it. I saw them at the Palace the night before in Melbourne and it was a sell out and then it was a let down the next night. Truth be known as stupid as it sounds that tour expeience for me would've almost been better if I didn't see the Heaven show, as dumb as that might sound!

No I know exactly what you mean. When they toured on the WCFYA tour with KSE and Soilworx that was a sellout. But a massive disappointment at Heaven for the Reunion tour.

A shame really.

Yeah although they had a very short set on that tour it was awesome cause of the long wait since 96 (Bridgeway Hotel) my excitement was at fever pitch!!! At least we got to hear What Doesn't Die live once, cause it wont be happening again!!!

True true.

Finally bands are showing perth the respect we deserve

Already have tickets for Dark tranquility, Fear Factory/Devil Driver, BLS (all within 6 days of oneanother!!!)- will get Yngwie and Nevermore when they come out.

Also have u guys heard that G3 is coming down in early december, Vai, Satch and Petrucci

Its going to be a great second half of the year!

Can I stop listening to this album??
Nope.

Its not really heavy as their first - more melodic and quiet - a very personal album of love lost without the usual BS you would associate with that kinda subject. But what a soaring, haunting album of many layers it is.

My album of the year so far.

Now here is the real dilmena. I got tickets to see them but on the same night KSE and Lamb of God are playing here :|

Intersting points people. I have just recently returned to Brisvegas after a 12 month stint in Dullelaide.. oh I mean Adelaide. Nice place but I agree, people there are reluctant to get out and see live metal. Not cool !
Looking forward to catching KSE + LOG in a few weeks. Tix go on sale in Brisbane this week I think. All ages though. Is KSE also playing in Perth ?
I think alot of these bands are all comming at once because Aussie is the next logical place to tour after the Loud Park festival in Tokyo. Now that would be a killer festival. Perhaps Anthrax will drop in again ?? .. sh sh .. maybe ?

Yer Loudpark would be awesome. Was very tempted to do a quick fly over to Nippon for this. Possible Slayer tour more than anything - I mean with their new album out and them playing Japan, Australia is just a hop, skip and jump.

I'd see LOG and KE - Butterfly Effect will be more accessible to see live in the years to come.

Very true. TBE tour quite heavily locally which is great.

Just to let u aussies know...

Too long have Australian Metal fans waited for a touring Metal Festival…
Too long have they felt envious of U.S & European headbangers…
Too much like Yoda does this press release sound…

Enter GIGANTOUR, the fast and furious traveling festival that was hailed last year by Revolver magazine as "the mother of all shred festivals" will kick off its first trip to Australia in October.

The brainchild of MEGADETH frontman DAVE MUSTAINE, GIGANTOUR will savage its way down the East Coast in October. MEGADETH will make their triumphant return on a bill that includes fellow heavy-hitters Soulfly, Arch Enemy, Caliban and more.

"This is the concert that I, as a heavy metal music fan, would want to see," says MUSTAINE who handpicks the acts personally. "It is going to be something to look forward to each year, to see what kind of tremendous talent we can assemble, for GIGANTOUR festivals in the years to come."

Having not being to Australia since their 2002 sold out tour, Soulfly will be making their presence felt on GIGANTOUR with their fierce, unrelenting, heavy and foreboding sounds. As expected of Max Cavalera, it is metal for the daring. Never safe and always engaging,

Metal titans ARCH ENEMY - whose dynamic cocktail of melody and aggression has earned them massive critical acclaim, a rabid worldwide fan base and a slot on this summer’s GIGANTOUR in the US. Arch Enemy gathered an army of fans on their 2005 tour and are set to light a fire under the ass of metal fans that missed them last time.

Rounding off GIGANTOUR is German’s finest Metalcore exponents, Caliban. Named after the wild, deformed slave in Shakespeare's “The Tempest”, Caliban are currently at their most creative ever. Brutal guitar staccato-salvos, complex alternate bombastic and clear walls of guitar, beautiful harmonies that consistently flair up and incredible rhythm, combined with this one of the most dynamic live shows going around that will knock the socks off every metal-core fan.

Make no mistake…this is the Metal event of the year…this is GIGANTOUR.
