Should Douglas Wood keep his head shaved? I think he looks cool as a bald geezer. Kind of like Locke from "Lost".

And who should play him in the movie?

Guy who was being held hostage in Iraq for around 47 days.

A high profile muslim cleric went over to negotiate his release and then apparently troops got tipped off that some insurgents were at this house so they raided it and seemingly stumbled across Mr Wood there.

Noone seems to have the straight story on whether the tip off was that he was actually there, or as it's been reported that it was just a tip off about insurgents.

I reported about 6 news stories about him tonight at work. He has an agent now and is negotiating how to cash in on it all. In talks are a Book deal, a movie deal and a beer sponsorship.

"I was held captive in Iraq by insurgent terrorists. I had my head shaved, i was beaten and humiliated. Every day I feared that I would be shot or be-headed. Now if that doesnt get me a hard earned thirst I dunno what the fuck will. Drink VB cunts!"

It's a bit rich (no pun intended) for him to go to Iraq to make money, get captured, have loads of taxpayers' money used to try to get him back, then make a packet out of it through media agencies.

Yeah,
not too fussed on him profiting from his ordeal, especially given that there is no "pain and suffering" allowed in OH&S law these days. People who are injured at work receive no compensation unless more than 15% disability is established.

He's not suffered the prerequisite 15% disability from it so :
1) STFU, and say thank you to the people who got him out;
2) Having suffered no physical disability, hand over the money to the liberators.

or,

STFU, and say thankyou to the liberators...all of them

I don't have a problem with him making money out of his ordeal, but I do have a problem with him thinking of going back (even though he's decided not to) because there are business opportunities in Iraq. The guy is a war profiteer, plain and simple. No wonder he supports Howard and Bush in the war.

Naahaaahah...he'd said that they should pull out, didn't he ?

Oh yeah, that was when he was fearful for his life, as opposed to helping rebuild the place..for a lot of money.

It's still not right that an Australian (whose wife was not told to keep her Californian accent under the hat), who went there for profit gets compensated (as per tonight's statement by a brother) for suffering, when one of us can't get the same compensation.

This bloke endured something aweful.

However, he did not suffer 15% disability, so "suck fuck"...no compensation...whatever current affair gives you goes to the SASS and the Mufti.
