This is a 20 sec raw piece that has 4 guitars, a bass and an Ez drummer track.
I have panned this piece 3 different ways for all to listen to, to see which one sounds best.

The 4 tracks are identical (as in the same riff but played 4 seperate times, thanks Poidaobi), bar the panning.
They are panned like such,

amp1, L100 ... R100 amp2, L80 (-3db) ... R80 (-3db)
amp1, L80 (-3db) R80 (-3db) amp2, L100 ... R100
amp1, L100 ... L80 (-3db) amp2, R100 ... R80 (-3db)

Please take a listen and let me know which version you like.

Just listening on computer speakers at work, 0001 sounded best here. 2 was too cloudy or something, didn't have the clarity that the other two did. between 0001 and 0003 wasn't a huge diff, but again that's on some computer speakers so...

None of them really felt very wide. Number Two had the most difference between guitars when the 2nd guitar came in, but then they blended into each other immediately. One and Three really had no clarity between guitar one and guitar two besides helping each other be louder, but the tones were not helping each other out much to get more left or more right. In my opinion.

Cool, thanx chonch. Did it sound alright for just raw tracks, no processing?
So you are saying, that because they are similar tones, that it doesnt help widen the image, is that correct? :)

2 of the 3 clips have the same tone either side where one has a different tone each side, just guaging what people would prefer. :)

Yeah to me, the tones are not asking for their own space, they are just sort of existing on top of each other... I don't know if that makes sense to you, but what I'm saying is, when they are playing together, it's obvious there is more than one guitar, but it doesn't sound like, two clearly different guitars or performances.
