Hey hey, I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseum, but I watched Erkan's recent studio vlog (nicely done sir! :headbang:) and was wondering...what is everyone's take on an acceptable discrepancy when intonating the 12th harmonic to the 12th note...how many cents difference until you are confident its "close enough"?

Also, does putting thicker strings on a guitar give you more headroom when intonating, or perhaps is it is because the string is less prone to vibrate sharp on the attack? Just thinking out loud...more tech savy peeps plz chime in! :Smokin:

The only "acceptable discrepancy" is when you have tried everything and the intonation is as close as it is can possibly be ie any changes will be worse.

Kind of. Thicker gauge equals higher tension. Higher tension is less likely to go sharp.
