Introduce me to...

In The Woods... - buy it all. no questions. just do it.

Omnio is a good place to start, since it's a good balance between their later more avantgarde style and is more 'metal' than later releases.

Carpathian Forest is ok, but I personally couldn't really give a fuck about most of it. Go for the early stuff.

edit, I said personally twice right after one another. ok bedtime soon.

Moose is right, the best Carpathian Forest is the earlier (though Strange Old Brew is a good album in my estimation).

Black Shining Leather is a good album to check out.

In the Woods- Omnio and Strange in Stereo, then the rest
Carpathian Forest- Through Chasms, caves, and titan woods, strange old brew

Oh right, Black Shining Leather is AWESOME.

I haven't cared much for the rest, but mind you I haven't heard Through Chasms... etc., which is also, supposed to be AWESOME.

but seriously, In The Woods... is mandatory for anyone with good taste.

HEart of the Ages, Omnio and Strange In Stereo are all classics.

HEart of the Ages is the most "black metal"-ish of the bunch, and Omnio and Strange In Stereo are hardly black metal at all, but still within a "Progressive" metal sphere (in the truest sense of the word progressive, and not like lame "regressive progressive" crap such as Symphony X... more like sort of whacky off the wall progressive as in 70s progressive music)
