Some of you all put this on your top ten so I decided I better check it out. Whoa! Huge!
It's easy to complain about Sabbath not making records right now, but frankly they don't need to. Honestly, Ozzy would have muddied and flubbed this somehow, especially since Glenn Hughes is such a good singer. Jeeeezus!
Soundmaster, you really gave me the hard sell on Glenn, and I'm a convert for sure. I know his other stuff is probably not this lead-weight heavy, but that's cool. I'm gonna buy everything I can find.
Anyway, this album definately owns, and definately makes an unofficial late entry into my top 10.
Great to hear!
And, no, Glenn's other albums are NOT as heavy! But they still kick major ass. And His records are usually quite different from eachother, each usually offering more variety than the average record does.
My suggestions is as follows:
1) pick up the last Iommi/Hughes collaboration "The 1996 Dep Sessions", which was, as the name suggests, recorded in 1996. Sadly, however, it was shelved when Tony reunited with Sabbath. The album was mastered and finished in 2004. Awesome release, similar to Fused.
2) Soul Mover. Glenn's 2005 release. This record features most of the styles that Glenn concentrates on....heavy rock, funkified rock, etc. Drums are played by Chad Smith of the Chili Peppers, but don't worry. It's very hard rock but with a slight funk twist. Think of Deep Purple circa the Burn/Stormbringer era. The track "Dont Let Me Bleed" is among the best tunes I've heard released in 2005.
3) Songs in the Key of Rock. Glenn's 2003 release. This is his most hardrocking, least funky record. He attemted, in his own words, to "recreate the 70s" with this record. If you love Rainbow, Purple, etc., this one is perfect for you. In fact, one of the tunes "borrows" the riff from Rainbow's "16th Century Greensleaves"!
4) Building the Machine. Glenn's 2001 release. This is actually my FAV Glenn record, but I placed it 4th because it's very heavy on the funk and I'm uncertain as to whether you'll dig that element. Not every song is funky, of course, but at least half is. There's also an awesome acoustic track named "Feels Like Home" which is one of my all-time fav tunes!!
5) Seventh Star. Tony and Glenn's first venture. I'm actually not that crazy about this record, at least compared to anything either Tony and Glenn have done before or since, but there are stil some killer tracks here, including No Stranger To Love which is an awesome tune. Most of the folks here on UM speak highly of this record, but I'm willing to bet you've already heard most of it.
check out some samples of Glenn's solo music at his site:

Go to "Discography". I suggest checking out "Let It Go" from Soul Mover first....it's a good example of his recent work.
He's also done two records with Joe Lynn Turner which kick major ass.
Also, if you've not already heard them before, Glenn contributes backing vocals to Deep Purple's BURN (and plays bass) and sings lead vocals on two tracks found on Purple's classic "Stormbringer" record.
