iPhone 4S

Do you honestly need a bigger screen? I think anything bigger just makes the phone uncomfortably huge. The rumored form factor of the iPhone 5 looks great, anything bigger is just going to be cumbersome IME.

Yeah if the screens on smartphones get any bigger we are up to the size of the first mobile phones again. And I really don't want that. In fact I wish the screen size would stay the same but the phone around it would get a little smaller and thinner. Glad this is a 4S "only" and no iPhone 5, so I don't feel like I need the new one

The really interesting thing about this update is the iOS 5.. can't wait to upgrade.

um.... so pretty much the new thing is the processor? i'm not seeing anything else THAT much better...

is that price for real? $199 for 16gb, $299 for 32 and $399 for the new 64gb model?

guess i made a shitty deal nine months back

So this is reaching store on October 14th?

Cause I plan on FINALLY getting an Iphone since I still almost use an Antenna Cellphone :yow:

My brother told me that Android or HTC phone were getting better but I'm sort of stuck in this consumer dilemma of what is best, the face-time is really attracting me for silly reason and the New Iphone4S has HD recording iirc so any advice?

Again we never know when Iphone5 will be announced, it could be 3 days after the release of the 4S; LMFAO, joke.

I still love iOS and the iPhone (my 4 has been utterly rock solid and dependable in my 14 months of ownership), but after holding the AT&T Galaxy S II (4.3" screen) I have now known perfection in smartphone design - so thin, not at all a handful (minimally wider/taller than the iPhone, just much less wasted space around the screen), and according to ALL tech site reviews the one Android phone to rule them all - probably gonna grab it, but who knows what else might pop up in 2 months!

True that!!!

I bought a Galaxy sII a couple of months ago and it rocks. The Iphone just feels clumsy fat and small if you compare them. Although i really belive 4,3inch screen is max of what a phone should have. But i enjoy surfing on it, don't feel uncomfortable at all.

Yeah some Android phones are really cool, and the technical specs are a lot better than the iPhone4 (now with the 4S, not so much anymore). Still, have you played around with it? It was a big step down concerning reliability, ease of use, and handling flow in general every time I used one. I had to push a lot of "buttons" twice, went through inconvenient menues etc.. So far no other smartphone has the flow my iPhone has.

Been using my piece of shit €90 Nokia whatever since 2007, and it's going to fall apart very soon; battery is so bloated that the back cover won't stay on, battery only lasts for about two days if I only text and make no phone calls and so on. I guess it's finally a good idea to upgrade, and the 16GB 4S will probably be what I'm going to get. To be honest, I could do with the 8GB iPhone 4 just as well though. Just as long as I can finally access the internet and IRC on my phone and whatever. It'll be weird to get all the modern stuff for sure

The thing with Android is it really depends on the manufacturer (as well as the hardware, naturally) - since pretty much every Android phone runs a manufacturer-tweaked version of the OS, there are huge differences in how well they respond and how reliable they are, and from all that I've read Samsung's TouchWiz 4.0 nails it (and also, in my job I sell a ton of phones, mostly Android-based, and have had lots of positive experiences). Believe me, I wanted nothing more than an iPhone with a bigger screen for web-browsing and video playback, it's the ONLY thing I don't like about my iPhone 4, but because they couldn't deliver, I'm forced to look elsewhere.

My Iphone4 got stolen a couple of month ago and I finaly got some money from the assurance. Checked for Iphones on ebay and amazon and stuff, but found nothing kosher looking under 400-500€ so I decided to buy a HTC desire S. I linked iCal and my adress book to my google mail account and can sync with the HTC super easy like on an iphone

(but this is all hypothetical because the phone will arrive at my place tomorrow:) I will report back how it is for an iphone guy to work with an HTC)

I have been evading the iPhone for quite sometime. But I think I may actually get this.
I have unlimited data plan and barely even use it because my phone isn't that great.
So my justification for getting the phone is - I can actually make use of my unlimited data plan, I can use it as a hotspot for my iPad when there is no wifi available, and it can replace my digital camera since it's almost as good and records higher quality video.

Damn I was looking forward to getting an iPhone but this seems like such a minor upgrade that I don't know if its worth it.
Also,
64GB is $400 in the US and $1000 in Australia. Our dollars are almost equal. What the FUCK?

SGS2 here as well. Was very nearly the only choice when I had to get a new phone.

The only thing is the latency in music apps.. could be a user error, but I've also heard that it's an Android thing??

Looks like Apple took their eyes off the ball on this one! It'll still sell like hotcakes though.

+1 from me as well for the love for the Samsung Galaxy S2, I love it. The only thing I miss is the Apple build quality, the plastic feels kind of cheap and it 'creaks' a bit. Apart from that it beats the iPhone hands down.
