Latvian heavy/thrash metal band, Iron Wings, presents their version of the legendary Nine Inch Nails song, “Hurt”. A lyric video can be viewed below.
Says the band: “The song was originally written by the American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails. One of the most famous covers of the song “Hurt” is performed by musician Johnny Cash. We, the band Iron Wings, want to present this song as a reminder that each of us has gone through or is going through our own struggles and this song will mean something different to each of us.”
Iron Wings on the song’s creation: “Musically, we wanted to stick to the sound of the original and the Johnny Cash version, combining them both in a new arrangement and adding the heavy sound of Iron Wings. We also wanted to add something new to the song, slightly departing from our usual heavy performance, offering a very atmospheric sound introduction, in which you can hear the moods of
both the Nine Inch Nails and Johnny Cash versions of the song ‘Hurt’. To make the sound even broader, the recording features drummer Artis Orubs as a guest artist, who has added timpani in the slow part of the song.”
The song was recorded in collaboration with Kārlis Šteinmanis (KS Records). Mix/master Kārlis Šteinmanis. Produced by Andris Veinbergs & Iron Wings.
