Is America ready?

To say I fucking hate dealing with drug dealers would be the understatement of the year - not that there's necessarily anything wrong with them as people, it's just such a pain in the ass to track 'em down sometimes, so you better believe I voted yes! (for all the good it'll do :loco: )

Honestly, the only reasons I can see for people wanting to keep it illegal are that it has the potential (if overused) to make one lazy and unmotivated - marijuana defenders often argue this by saying that there are tons of people who use it responsibly and lead healthy, productive lives as contributing members of society, etc. (and I of course agree), but IMO this shouldn't even be the line of defense used; rather, if the only demonstrable negative effect is that, is that REALLY worth all the money spent (and potential tax revenue lost) on keeping it illegal? Because we're never gonna convince anti-pot people to change their minds about the laziness and such; trust me, I used to be one, and I know so many others who still are, so honestly I think it's pointless to try. Anyway, just musing!

98.2% of those surveyed are saying "yes" as of my vote. While I don't care for marijuana myself, I absolutely recognize the benefits of legalization for medical purposes, it's helped quite a few friends of mine. It's sad when a perfectly legal dispensary gets shut down by the feds, it's really terrible actually. It takes a lot of time, personal investment, and technical know-how to set up a dispensary. These are legitimate business owners and botanists, helping people and fulfilling their own part of the American dream.

However you feel about it, we at least need legal consistency. Either legalize it or don't - this "gray area" status isn't helping the situation at all.

Even if you don't like it though, how could you want to keep it illegal for recreational use as well in the face of the financial benefits legalizing it would provide? Again, is its potential for making people lazy if misused really that bad? (not really directed at you Shane, just in general)

It's gonna be the same argument as with gay marriage... it doesn't matter what logic you use, some people just don't like gay people and some people just don't like pot, regardless of the basis.

It's kinda like... If we could initiate a ballot proposition (CA, of course... dumbest shit we've been allowed to do in ever) that, if passed, would outlaw dudes at clubs who wear popped collars and order bottle service, I'd probably vote for it! I've got nothing against bottle service and collars, but I hate those douche bags!

This.

I voted yes just for shits, but I don't think I'll ever see weed legal in my life. I don't even smoke really.
Some people are just fuckin stupid.

I don't like weed, but I dont see why it should be illegal. Seems a lot less harmful than alcohol. They would just have to treat it the same, as in DUI penalties and whatnot.

People get violently drunk and harm others all the time, but I have yet to see someone violently stoned, hahaha.

no.1 one reason why i voted yes is because it's so widespread anyway, a clean, regulated supply would make it healthier. Plus, some more public awareness about vaporizers would be good, at least in theory much better for your lungs
