Is there a reason.....

experiments are good, and we can't be sure he'll never sing in clean vox again. however, i agree with phyre about damage done. :)

and welcome to rhavin2112, who truly does not deserve to be labeled as my twin, clone or anything. be polite, he's just got a similar nick.

rahvin.

I agree, no one deserves that...

From what I remember of interviews, they were planning Haven to be long and mellow... but grew bored of that, chopped it all down, made it more dynamic. No room left for the clean vocals...

I expect we'll see them again - didn't he use them on Skydancer?

Mikael always mentioned how he had a horrible cold during the recording of projector.. hence the somewhat raspy death vox throughout the album... however I wonder if that helped his clean voice, maybe his voice had more depth cause of the cold, like Akerfeldt's voice on MAYH.. ? He did a liittle clean singing on Haven, but it was hard to really compare it to Projector.. seemed like there were more effects added.

Below is a link to an interview with Mikael where he also explains about the "Projector" experiment. I liked Mikael's sporadic use of clean vocals on the albums before Projector, but didn't like them at all on "Projector".

Hmm, that article ID is pretty funny...

Thanks for the link, I don't have time to look for such things, even tho I wish I did. And yeah, the ID is rather "strange"

@Huevo: Well, Projector is DT's worst and MAYH is Opeth's worst album in my opinion, so their colds didn't quite help their performances on those albums if you ask me!

@Salamurhaaja: yer welcome! I thought is was a pretty cool interview, the first "post-DD" intie I read.

Yeah... Ppl are always confusing me with phyre, witch is strange and annoying :bah:

Good thing he isn´t a complete bastard, but I guess the pain is his, since I am not the least bit tr00...;)

The depth of his voice is absolutely the thing that makes it so amazing. But I doubt it had to do with the cold, since his voice is great live, too.

And count me in to the club that misses his clean singing!! Tho the growls are awesome. The clean vox were a nice surprise between the growls.

...although the dwarf reference makes it a bit more traditional metal, if you ask me.

I loved the mix of hard vocals and clean singing on projector,
f.e.doberman or the best of the best:
to a bitter halt and on your time, the best DT songs ever!!
but he also can sing very well with his agressive vox
listen to monochromatic stains,he changes his voice always
hes one of the best singers ever!!!
mikael we love you(re voice)
