Is this bass soundwave right?

Hey guys,
This is the first time I record with this bass (Ibanez with Bartolini PU), and I'm not sure if it is well recorded after all because I have never got such a big soundwave ever. Here's some pictures of it.

Doesn't sound bad to me. Are the waveforms just "visibly" enlarged? It appears you are clipping a bit. Did you adjust the gain on your preamp/interface?

I know, basic stuff, but sometimes a simple mistake can have you running in circles for an hour.

Does look a bit clipped in the first picture, second picture is completely useless. Sounds distorted so it's probably clipped if it's just a DI. what ^ said check yo pres.

I have a MOTU Audio Express, and I remember I set the gain to its lowest :/.

There's not a PAD switch on it? Might have to lower bass volume knob if theres no Pad.

Happens with some cheap interfaces, even with minimum gain some stuff clip, try putting a DI box before the interface and plug into the mic pre instead of the DI input, works with the crappy presonus interface I had
