Hi guys!

Just been really trying to pro things up a little more lately, trying out some techniques I wouldn't normally employ.

Whats your overall take on this? Does it sound glued? and while your listening am I making any schoolboy errors?

The reason there's only autotuned cleans on there, is because I really do suck at screaming... and our singer hasn't come over to track the agressive parts yet aha.

Hope you like! And I hope I got the "gluing" right! aha

Peace! x

Also... The reason I'm posting this in the Sturgis Production section, is I'm going for the whole Sturgis polished vibe to this, its not a totally random post. Just to clear that up ;)

I know guys, but I'm constantly in a war with myself, "does it just sound good to me, or is it actually good to someone else?" aha.

I'll try that out man! I know what you mean listening to it now :)

Thanks guys! Sorry to keep annoying people! ;)

A lot of times it's easy to doubt what you've made.

Just don't listen to it for a few days.
Then pop it in your car without referencing anything else one morning.
See how you feel about it.

That actually works well when your ears are tired of a mix, go listen to bands you think sound similar and come back to your mix in a few days and you should hear all the details you missed! Referencing is a great way to start while you training your ears to know what sounds right!

Stop worrying about if it is "glued" or not and just strive to make it sound good.
"Glue" isn't even something you can rationally objectify. When most people refer to "glue" they are saying that all the instruments have their place in a mix and aren't interfering other instruments and that everything is very cohesive. So ask yourself "Are the instruments in their own place? Is the mix cohesive? Does it all work together as a whole? Are there any parts/instruments that I need to get rid because they are taking up valuable space and are not essential to the song?"
If you check every single one of those, then the "glue" will come naturally.
(P.S. I despise the word "glue" when talking about it in a mix context )

Agreed on the snare, I think the bass might need low passing a little lower aswell theres some weird high end clickyness coming from it that I can hear now and again

sorry to resurrect a dead thread but could you please tell me what the synth at 0.46 is?
