We (Clawfinger) did a festival in the Czech republic and I packed the gear in a Gator G-Shock 4L, because I thought it would survive a flight...

I won't do it again though, even if they state that it can take "heavy gear". http://gatorcases.com/productsmodeldetail.aspx?LID=1&PID=276&MID=290

Now we have to pay overweight all the f*****g time instead. Sucks.

still report it to the airline and to gator, it happened to my bud except it was the airports fault and they paid to replace all the gear in his rack even though it still worked.

Oh yeah, I'll do that. It has happened before, but this was a new record. Must've dropped it from the plane straight on the ground or something.

Last time I travelled with my rack (Gator 4RU with marshall 9200) the airline must have dropped it from a great height, because the rack ears were bent right back and the marshall was sitting about a cenitmetre further out than normal. the rack was fine and the amp still worked, but I was fucking pissed. If you don't have travel insurance the airline will not give a shit about any damaged goods (at least qantas won't), and travel insurance is rediculously expensive.

I now have all my gear insured with my home & contents insurance, and it works out much cheaper, and is heaps more convenient. Just take pics of everything before and after.
