How do I deal with this? My Ibanez Destroyer and Stagg bass were taken, although the other seven were left behind. My roommate's TV, ps3, and machete was taken, along with random shit like a couple games and damn 1/8 to RCA cable. I have the receipts to the guitars, I will be getting them back. I'm just pissed and I want to hurt somebody very seriously.

Advice, your own stories, cute kittens to calm my happy ass down, any help is appreciated.

Happens to all of us, at some point or other. This house I'm in right now got robbed twice, due to easy access over on the neighbouring lot. As long as your stuff is insured, it's all good. Unless you live in a fortress, you can basically set your watch and wait for someone to go over it.

It's a shit feeling, but if it makes it any easier on you, look at where/how they broke in and reinforce that part of the house if you need to. If you make it difficult enough many robbers just cbf and move on to the next place.

That's shit house man! My dads place has been robbed twice also :( Took his guitar both times, one was the shit one though!
Having said that, insurance is your friend! Plus.. now despite how much it sucks.. and it DOES suck.. you get some new gear because some greedy cunt... was a greedy cunt!

Well, a bout one year an a half ago, both me and my wife went to work at 7am. She was going to come back at 9am , by herself, and sleep (she was 8 months pregnant). I rushed the mastering I was doing and went to bring she home. Some stuff also happened at her work, so, in the end, we got at home at 11am. Two guys had broke into our house and robbed me a newly bought Macbook Pro (3 days old), 2 22 inch LCD monitors, my daughters Aerosol machine (she has asthma), one DVD player and one DVD recorded, a blender and, tbh, much more stuff I dont remember. They left our 3 guitars and 2 acoustics, thank God. But they also robbed my peace..I had nightmares for over a year, didnt sleep well for a LONG time and up to this day, I am reluctant to go out and leave the home alone. I also had to change my door, and make my home look like a jail putting a big iron fence(???? I dont know the name in english) in front of it. The worst of it, these guys sell it for cheap to buy pot (yeah, not even crack, but regular pot....). I've heard stories of guys selling $2k guitars for $100..

How this "guitar receipt" thing work?

This week I´ve met a dude from Holland that was on vacation here in Brazil. He said that the first thing that caught his attention was the ammount of gates we have here. Most houses have iron gates, electric fences, razor barbed wires, security cameras and glass shards on top of walls. I guess it´s just a matter of time before we surround ourselves with alligator pits.

Do you have renter's insurance? That will usually between $20-50k in losses. Though the usual routine is they expect you to show receipts or proof of the original item, a police report, buy a replacement, and then submit for reimbursement.

Hmm?!
My parents house got robbed twice, the first one was while we were sleeping upstairs(the whole family was in the house at that time)...
Not a good feeling at all, you're sleeping and some fucking asshole cunts stepping through your house and stealing all the stuff.

But it's better if your "house" get robbed than yourself.

I got robbed when I was maybe 14 years old on the street by 15 Dudes, that was harder for me than the house-robbing.

I bought the destroyer at a local pawn, and lucky for me, all the shops send serial numbers to the local PD. Along with the ID of the person selling it. I have the receipt for Destroyer and the invoice for the Bass which I bought on ebay, those were included on the police report. They only took my pride and joy, left the rest, so obviously it was an in-and out job.

I've been robbed 3 times now, 2 of the times we were in, the most recent we were awake and upstairs. I've lost phones, cash, a tv, my custom made bike (which I got back, mwahaha), several cameras, games, dvd's and even a bong

It's just one of those things, as long as you've got insurance it's alright. My thought are with you though, it feels horrible to know people have been sneaking around your house.

That's actually possible:

if you ask me I'd rather been robbed by guy without a gun than having a gun myself and being robbed by a guy with a gun. the percentage is much higher you'll get shot!

I'm amazed so many of you can say you've been robbed before; and in most cases more than once! I've only heard one story from family about a robbery, it stuns me to think that it's so commmon in other parts of the world.

That, and it makes me think that audio engineers seem to make popular targets... Thank fuck for insurance and big-ass doors.
