Why can't you just read the forums for a while until you get a feel for the general flow and then make a few tentative posts in other people's threads that are relevant and not overly argumentative. If you add something, such as show a new band, that people like, in the relevant threat and without any block capitals, breasts or backwardness then people wont have a problem with you.
