Jörg Michael has cancer

RIP

He is the drummer of Stratovarius, and former drummer of Running Wild and has also been a session member for many bands. This sucks, but Timo Tolkki wrote yesterday, that he's gonna be okay and is going back to playing drums soon.

I promised myself not to react to any post in this thread before I created it since I knew what was to expect from pretty much everyone. But I can't hold myself back answering to this one:
22,000 kids died today but they didn't drum in a band you like so who cares, right?
Joe, sometimes it can happen that someone you don't know personally adds a great amount of joy and happiness to your life. Not very often, but sometimes this can also happen through music. In this case, listening to Stratovarius has taken a noticeable amount of time during the last 1,5 years of my life. I am very thankful towards the whole band that they are able to create something that can make me happy. Jörg is a very important part of this band, even if he isn't THE creative head in it, and my thanks go to him in the same way as to the other members. Thus I think a stronger feeling towards him having a terrible disease than towards millions other people who didn't play an equal part in my personal life has its justification. I don't care if you agree or not, but this is my personal opinion, and no one has the right or the insight to dictate what I have to be sad about and what not. Thank you.

I read about it yesterday and kinda landed in a shock..
Cancer is such a terrible disease :(

But from what I've read he's had surgery and is recovering and it's looking good.. Although cancer has a way of turning the odds without any sign beforehand :S

Let's just hope the best..
