On October 15, 2024, Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands, Red Dragon Cartel) was shot multiple times in a Las Vegas, NV street shooting outside his home as he took his dog out for a walk in the early morning hours.
The legendary rock guitarist, who played with Ozzy from 1983-1987 and was featured on the albums Bark At The Moon and The Ultimate Sin, issued the following update via social media earlier this weekend:
“Oh, btw, the two that shot me have been caught and face sentencing next month. The gun was tied to two previous murders so my case is almost an afterthought. They’re going bye bye for a long time.”
Jake E. Lee was shot three times – in the forearm; in the back, with the bullet fracturing two ribs and puncturing his left lung; and in the foot.
Lee previously elaborated: “Feels like I need to clarify the events leading to the shooting. Coco (his dog) and I were walking home from our walk. Spotted two, gentlemen, dressed in black, hoodies pulled down low, face masks covering their mouths, in a driveway checking out a motorcycle. They saw us coming up on them and exited the driveway and quickly walked down the street. The same direction we were headed. They kept checking over their shoulders at us. Coco did not like them and was pulling hard on the leash towards them but I pulled back and kept it at a steady pace. They stopped to face us. I stopped about six feet shy of them, holding Coco tight to me. One of them said ‘You need to quit following us and turn around and F*** off.’ I replied ‘We’re not following you, we’re going home. You don’t belong here, you’re the ones that should F••• off.’ They kept nervously looking at Coco, obviously more intimidated by an 80 lb. pitbull than an old guy in a bright Hawaiian shirt! And I love how Coco handles strangers. He’s not aggressive but he’s not friendly. He just stands at attention and stares at them. Anyway, after some macho back and forth (I could just tell they were teenagers trying to act tough and getting upset that I wasn’t the least bit intimidated), I suggested Coco and I continue on home, they turn around and leave the way they came and we call it a night. I never saw a gun.”
Next Saturday, July 5, Jake. E. Lee will be part of the all-star Back To The Beginning concert in Birmingham, England, which will mark the final performance from both Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne.
Lee stated, “Just confirming I’m playing in Birmingham on the 5th of July. In fact I believe I’ll be first at bat, which means Coco has to be up at 7:00am to watch Pops! I’m thrilled to be sharing the stage with top tier musicians, I won’t name cause you never know until the curtain rises, but will confirm once we have our rehearsal next week.”
