What keeps JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist and "Ink Master" star Dave Navarro looking suave and ageless after decades in the spotlight? An impeccable sense of style and a cabinet full of cruelty-free men's products. Just in time for the holiday shopping season, the legendary musician joined The Humane Society of the United States' (HSUS) campaign to end animal testing in personal products, claiming, "An animal's life is worth more than a personal care product. End animal testing." In a statement to the HSUS, Navarro appeals to cosmetics consumers, saying: "Think about it. What is more evil than applying chemicals into the eyes of a defenseless bunny, burning a guinea pig's skin, or poisoning a mouse to test her reaction in order to appeal to the ego and vanity of humans? Not only is the intentional infliction of pain upon thousands of animals each year morally unjustifiable, it also does not reflect the best and latest science. With thousands of ingredients already proven safe and many non-animal test methods available for use, hundreds of cosmetic companies are able to create safe products without participating in archaic animal tests." Animals in the U.S. are still enduring painful and often deadly experiments to test cosmetics like lipstick, deodorant and cologne. More than 30 countries — home to more than 1.7 billion consumers — have already joined the #BeCrueltyFree movement. The world's largest cosmetics market, the European Union, together with Norway, Israel, India, New Zealand, South Korea, Turkey and several states in Brazil, have enacted full or partial bans on animal testing for cosmetic products and ingredients. Similar legislation is currently pending in the United States, as The Humane Cosmetics (H.R. 2858) would make this a thing of the past by prohibiting animal testing for all cosmetic products manufactured or sold in the U.S. Navarro joins other celebrities who support The Humane Society of the United States/Humane Society International's Be Cruelty-Free campaign, including Kesha, Ricky Gervais, Bellamy Young, Paul McCartney, Kaley Cuoco, Torrey Devitto, and more. Some of Navarro's favorite cruelty-free picks include items from: * Jack Black * Paul Mitchell * Every Man Jack * Lush * Bulldog * Dr. Bronner's For more information, visit humanesociety.org/becrueltyfree.
