I honestly think the "play along with speech idea" is a derivate from Zappa's "The Jazz discharge party hats" (although Jarzombek's piece stands for itself)

I've watched the Drum DVD that youtube clip is from. I don't remember how long it is because the whole time I was just staring drop-jawed in amazement. When he explains why he sets his kit up like that and which limbs he uses for which notes in a beat it just made it all the more mystifying. The Jarzombek bros are phenomenal and nothing less. Blotted Science - Machinations of Dementia is top 10 EVER.
