Jeff Loomis instructional DVD

Hey, if nevermore or jeff released their next album on piratebay, I would've found it, haha. Well to be honest, I actually went out and bought ZOP from hmv who overcharge for any cd that's special ordered, but damnit it was such an awesome album, it was worth my 20 coins!

This video would be gold for any guitarists who don't know Frank Gambale's style. FG's sweeping method is what makes Jeff so incredible, J just does it in the metal shred style.

the only thing i can think of thats FG'ish is the sweeps in born, but besides that...

Pretty much everything Jeff does is in that 'locked sweep pick' style of FG. You don't always 'hear' it, but what it does is keep his left and right hands completely synced. It takes a LOT of practice (especially to get that down in an improvisational context), so that's one of Jeff's real skills.

His talent is in his songwriting. Good luck instructionalizing that.
