This is what some dude onj the BWBK forum wrote (I know, typos included):

"well in finnland yes, they're like god's there everyone want a piece of that , alexi said they can't go into bars in finnland without body guards "

:OMG:

Is that true??

Or maybe just a misunderstanding.....?????????

They can't go anywhere without their bodyguard whose name is by the way Jack Daniels.

I really don't think so... I guess it happens the same as with other great finn bands (Apocalyptica, Battlelore, etc), and so they'r just seen as neighbourhood guys... They know them, they know their works, but are not that fanatic to make them wander with bodyguards (as it could happen in another country... Specially with pop singers... :yuk: )...

That's bullshit. Of course they might be being recognized when walking on the street, but bodyguards...pff, that's ridiculous. I happened to meet Aleksi once in Corner Bar (for those who don't know- THE metal place in Hellsinki), and as he walked in to the bar NO ONE cared about it. Nobody spoke to him because he's Aleksi Laiho from Children of Bodom or begged for an autograph or shit like that. Same when me and friends went with them to Fever after their gig in Tavastia. OK, that's a (horrible) place to dance and the people might not even know how to spell metal...but nevertheless, they were treated indifferently. I remember one guy asking me when standing next to Henkka and Jaska "Who's that ? Do you belong to them ? Are they your friends?" There still are people who absolutely don't have any clue about them, so it can't be that bad, I don't think so.

Thanx for the info everyone....I thought so!!! Someone's been talking a load of bull, huh?? ;)

Also, after the 08/24/04 Tavastia gig, when suddenly a few hate crew guys including Allu came walking out of the club, a few people were still hanging out in front of the venue. A *few* fans walked up to Alexi, talked to him a little, got autographs etc. -but noone was acting retarded! I felt quite excited of course but didn't really show it -I was kinda speechless but didn't want to make an ass out of myself, hahah! Sooo, i just politely asked him for an autograph (on my tiny red Eastpak thingy) and got it. :)
After a little bit of hanging around fans, he walked away *alone* -NO bodyguards (or "personal assistants" -   )!!!

Hi SR~VE,

I read this from a Polish magazine and maybe you are interested in this :)

"- - Laiho is considering hiring a bodyguard since a certain luxemburgian elephant has been stalking him."

I hope this was useful!

You don't need bodyguards in Finland if you play in a succesful Heavy Metal band... I know it pretty popular here but still its very marginal... and anyway there's only what about 5 million of us finns and whowhats here anyway... There just isnt enough people to get all hysterious and freak out like fuking boyband groupies when we see our Idol...
Anyway its not the Finnish way... Were quite reservrd people... until we're DRUNK!!!!

And keep in mind another thing. Every weekend you go to a bar you see at least 3-4 random band members. In a small population, with a lot of musicians in it, its just fact that there will be many musicians in one area. Around here, it really doesnt seem like that big a deal. I drink with band people like every weekend, its like no different than drinking with non band people. They just drink more sometimes :D

And really, save once in awhile going up to a band member whose a fan in a bar(and they are respectful for the most part doing so), they just sit at the table with everyone else. :)
