I have known about this project for a while, but this was in the newspaper. It seems taht it will be half Ozzy covers (Well, Bob Daisly wrote all of the songs including lyrics, but was never credited for them.... So really, they are Daisly songs, not Osbournes) and half new material. Should be interesting

Jimmy enjoys Purple patch
From Sydney Confidential

VETERAN Australian rocker Jimmy "David's dad" Barnes has recorded a secret album with members of the famed English rock band Deep Purple.
Called Relentless, the album is already creating a buzz in music industry circles and will be released early next year on Michael Gudinski's Liberation label.

The co-ordinator of the album project, Drew Thompson, said it came about after a solo Australian tour by Deep Purple member Jon Lord last year.

"When he was in Sydney, Jimmy jumped up on stage and did three songs because he has always been such a Deep Purple fan," he said.

"He got on famously with the band's bass player, who also works extensively with Ozzy Osborne. The new band features two Purple guys, Steve Morse and Dan Airey, two guys who have played with Ozzy for years, Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley, with Jimmy out front."

Thompson said the band had recorded "on the quiet" so as not to generate industry hype.

"It was recorded in August in Florida, where Deep Purple do all their albums," he said.

"We are absolutely thrilled with the results the guys have come up with.

"I have always felt that Jimmy Barnes has had to scream his lungs out to be heard with the bands he has played with.

"On this album however, he sits back in the mix and it sounds great."

Thompson said the new musical collaborators would be forming a supergroup.

"We were going to be called The Meek, but there is another Australian band with that name," Thompson said.

"The album, which will feature half original material and half Ozzy Osborne material, will not be released until early next year."

Meanwhile, Barnes will team up with Cold Chisel for a series of reunion appearances.

A live album Ringside will be released in November on Warner Records. Cold Chisel will appear in Melbourne on January 20 at Festival Hall.
