Everyone familiar with this?

Long story short: An elderly Houston man in an affluent neighborhood saw two men breaking into his neighbors house. He was told by police dispatch to stay inside. He then confronted the men outside with shotgun in hand and told them to freeze or he'd shoot. They ran (one toward him, the other away from him) and he shot both in the back.

Turns out they were both Colombian illegals, one of whom had been deported back in 1999 for a cocaine run-in.

This is all over the news down here. Quannell X (leader of the Black Panthers) is constantly protesting and pushing for an arrest. Thing is, the guy has more support than opposition. It is an interesting situation.

Hero or Murderer?

Perhaps, but was it unwarranted? They were breaking the law. As a suburbanite in an affluent predominantly white neighborhood, I can understand the citizens praising this as a warning to would be thieves: "We're not gonna take it!"

So they deserved to die? Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-capitol punishment at all, but breaking into someones house and stealing some shit doesn't seem to really warrant lethal force.

If he really found a way to shoot the assailant in the back as he was running towards him, the amazing feat should dispel any notion of raising charges against him.

Ohh, and if we assume that both men were shot in the back (thus fleeing) then I think it's fairly obvious charges should be brought against Mr. Horn.

They weren't even robbing HIS property COME ON!!

Maybe he shot the fleeing one in the back and THEN the other one figured "shit i could probably rob someone else where no old white mang will kill me" and ran for it

The one ran toward and past him, then he got shot in the back. Jeez, a little thinking, c'mon guys.

Demilich, so he should have just let this go unpunished even though it was not his property? It is his neighborhood, after all. We all know the police never would have caught them. Thus, they go on to prey upon others. That the bullshit.

And that is what is being debated. Does a neighbor have a right or responsibility towards protecting his neighborhood? Neighborhood watch, anyone?

Cracker neighborhoods unite!

Property can be replaced... people can't. Even though these were druggie illegal thieves, you can't fuck with that imo.

Life sentence for this guy plz, especially after he was told by authorities not to take matters into his own hands. I'm anti death penalty btw and am very glad that my state just banned the fuck out of that bullshit.
