Joe Satriani says that he is hoping that CHICKENFOOT will reassemble this summer to begin working on new music. The supergroup, which features the legendary guitarist alongside former VAN HALEN singer Sammy Hagar, ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, has been largely inactive since 2012 when it toured with Kenny Aronoff on drums due to Smith's busy schedule with his main band. Last March, CHICKENFOOT released "Divine Termination", its first new tune in five years, on "Best + Live", the band's first-ever best-of collection. During a brand new interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station, Satriani was asked if there are any plans for CHICKENFOOT to do anything else again. Joe responded (hear audio below): "Well, I think all of us… I should say when I say 'all of us,' I mean myself and Chad and Mike, we're trying to convince Sammy to spend some time working on some new songs with us. I think he wants to do it, but he's too busy having a good time with all his other stuff. So we just have to go in there and [write down] in his date book that he's got some sessions ahead of him. So maybe this summer. It looks like all of us are gonna have a little time this summer, so we're gonna try to see if we can get in the studio then." CHICKENFOOT's most recent album of all-new material was "Chickenfoot III", the band's second LP, issued in 2011. In May 2016, CHICKENFOOT reunited for two one-time shows at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, and played its first complete set in more than six years, along with a special unveiling of "Divine Termination". In addition to "Divine Termination", "Best + Live" includes over ninety minutes of live music "Best + Live" for the first time released on CD. Satriani released his sixteenth solo album, "What Happens Next", on January 12 via Sony/Legacy Recordings. Just a day prior to the album release, Satriani revived his G3 tour entity, inviting DREAM THEATER's John Petrucci and DEF LEPPARD lead guitarist Phil Collen to join him. Interview (audio):
