John Bush interview.

Very interesting interview and John Bush really speaks from the heart about his relationship with Armored Saint which is... well, he's not exactly bursting at the seams with excitement for the new albun or with being with the band again. He seems to be very calm and realistic as far as the band's popularity is concerned. Because, let's face it, it's been awhile, and Armored Saint were never that big to begin with.
Also, I thought he had left Anthrax, but it seems that's not so sonce he speaks of having a few gigs lined up with them.

Yes, although I wouldn't agree that he went into doing this album somehow reluctantly (if that's what you meant). I think this passage sums it up pretty well:

I mean I use the term now that this band is a hobby and people can misinterpret that like playing darts or pool as a hobby. The way I convey it is the most complimentary of ways because this isn’t my gig where I have to do an obligatory recording or slug it out, I’m doing this because I really love it and it’s not mandatory. So for me that’s the most honest way to do it. We don’t do this because we need a big record advance or we have to go on tour and pay bills, it has nothing to do with that.

In other words, there's only one reason Armored Saint made a new album; because they wanted to. And I'm glad they did because it's a great album, a bit more laid back than in the past but it's still Saint through and through.

Also, I thought he had left Anthrax, but it seems that's not so sonce he speaks of having a few gigs lined up with them.
He filled in for one or two gigs after the Dan Nelson meltdown last summer and has done some festivals and I think an Australian tour with them since. Anthrax is playing all the Sonisphere festivals in Europe among others so he'll be pretty busy this summer.

Bumping this one as my copy arrived today.

Finally after been reading both the interview and 'La Raza' lyrics I must say with all due respect to Bush quote
This is a band where 3/5 of it is Spanish or Latino so I just thought there was a correlation there.
His idea just doesn't make sense in Spanish actually.

The song makes sense in English were race being the same word have two meanings:

  • a contest of speed
the race to find space and oil
  • a class or kind of people unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics
human race may come to a boil

But in Spanish, raza means only the second. The first will be carrera.

Well I think this ends all the speculation. Musically is an acceptable album, still their less remarkable IMO.
