changing VB composition !!!!

bastards, it's unAustralian to put pressure through the taxation system to alter the composition of VB.

But as per market forces at work, prices are due to rise.

Go the Conservatives.

either drink a good beer or fuck off to cuba and see how you like it there commy scum :headbang:

I DO drink a good beer, that failed to succumb to "Market Forces"...Coopers.

what sort of fucked policies would allow a brewery to change the make-up of a beer to save millions in tax dollars...unless it was a socialist model that the Government were working with in the first place ?

Its called excise commy

I'm not a fan of all these "imported" beers being brewed and bottle in Australia. It just doesnt taste the same.

But yes as far as great Aussie beer goes, you cannot beat Coopers. Boags premium is quite nice too.

It is a tax - An excise tax. Smokes have it as well, so does fuel.

Its on the alcohol, so the more alcohol in your product the greater the tax you pay. Excise taxes are normally used on 'undesirable' goods to deter people from buying them.. And VB is one of the most undesirable goods around

I thought Howard went to great lengths to point out that excises are NOT a tax a few years ago...while lambasting the states about stamp duty (which they state is not a tax.

Anyway

"Excise taxes are normally used on 'undesirable' goods to deter people from buying them.. And VB is one of the most undesirable goods around "

Got a giggle out of me...good one (although I do like a VB occasionally, and I didn't realise petrol (double taxed) was an undesirable product, especially after today's press conferences).

Southy, it's got more in NSW, now you mention it.

We've the 2c "Bicentenial levy" that was to create dual lanes around the country by the bicentanary. 3x3 road tax (3c 3 years, nearly 10 years old), excise, then GST rolled over the top of them.

 Joke of the day :kickass:

I also laugh when I renew my registration for my two cars, the state is robbing us blind...

Fuel has 3 taxes, a road tax, a fuel excise, and GST....I remember once hearing that the GST would not not be a double tax, man I love being lied to

Yeh we get taxed on a tax in regards to fuel.
