JOHN MACALUSO-AFTER THE DRUM CLINIC

Overheard at the Nightmare table, between 200 - 300 times, PP weekend:

"John, what happened with Ark?"

Zod

I think if you ask him that you will run the risk of making a grown man cry.

When DemonOfTheWoods and I met him at the Flight of the Valkyries (he did a special appearance drumming for Chris Caffery's solo project) in June, Nick (DotW) mentioned ARK and how much he loved their music. John looked like he really had to hold back the tears while he told Nick and I about how he had tried to do everything possible to keep them together and how he was so upset when that band broke up. He called the band his "baby." It was really touching to see a musician who cared for a band so much that it almost brought him to tears to talk about it's endding.

John was super nice too, talked to us for at least 30-45 mins., shared drinks with us, signed autographs, even gave Nick his e-mail telling him to send him some of his drum tracks to listen to. I'm sure he'll be just as gracious to anyone who meets him at PP this year.

Macaluso was a blast on the road. Spent many hours just yapping with him - music, influences, past projects, Yngwie stories (OMG the Yngwie stories :) ).
Awesome player and real cool/fun human being

I wish I could make that drum clinic. John is my favorite metal drummer! Oh well, I'll probably see him at the Nightmare Records table, just to grab that CD and shake his hand. Truly a great guy and an astounding, inspiring percussionist.

John is a really nice guy in person and everyone should go talk to him. By the way, The Radio Waves Goodbye is ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!! It should be on everyone's must-buy list. Seriously.
