Much respect to John for championing noncommercial music throughout his life even though I never had the opportunity to listen to his show, and his death marks yet another sign that traditional radio is all but dead...

If someone told me that I could pay a $ fee for commercial free radio and tv channels in the US (above and beyond friggin' NPR etc) then I would do it if it meant we could listen to stuff like The Peel Sessions, or watch tv shows without breaks.

And before anyone says XM satellite radio, it is the biggest crock of shit in the history of radio, and although you pay for the service, you STILL get commercials. Bah.

Try Sirius, my buddy has it and I haven't heard commercials on it.

This is why I won't pay for cable, fuck PAY service with advertisements!
