Great top. In a top 20 i'd probably put either Ghost reveries, my first too and the one I listen more (and why not, maybe the best), and Judgement (a little overall better than Natural imho, which also is a masterwork and i have not heard the acoustic one) and also Blood Inside and Shadows of the sun. But it was a top ten and i had to chose :(

10? Too hard but il post some of the albums that have meant the most to me...

When I was really young:
Michael Jackson - Bad
Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry
Kiss - Animalize (My First LP)
Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet/New Jersey
Mötley Crue - Shout at the Devil

As a teenager:
Metallica - Ride The Lightning (first CD I bought, (their first 5 albums really means alot to me though))
Entombed - Clandestine
Anathema - The Silent Enigma/Serenades
Sepultura - Arise/Beneath the Remains
In Flames - Whoracle/Colony
Hypocrisy - Abducted

the last ~10 years:
Anathema - Eternity/Judgement
Opeth - Blackwater Park/Still Life (kinda opened my ears for bands like Kata, PT, etc)
Saturnus - Martyre
Katatonia - Viva Emptiness/The Great Cold Distance

The band that has meant the most to me through my life is defenitely Anathema.

I was gonna make a post similiar to this one, but didn't: I made a list out not long ago of my top 10 albums of all time, I decided to only give one band an album though.

10. King Crimson - In the court of the Crimson King
9. A perfect Circle - Mer de Noms
8. Alice in Chains - Dirt
7. Katatonia - Night is the New Day
6. Failure - Fantastic Planet
5. HUM - You'd Prefer an Astronaut
4. NINE INCH NAILS - The Fragile
3. TOOL - AENIMA
2. Pink Floyd - Darkside of the Moon
1. Opeth- my arms your hearse

hmmm

no order here

Alice in Chains - Dirt
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Saturnus - Veronika Decides to Die
Katatonia - Tonight's Decision
Ulver - Svidd Neger
Symphony X - The Odyssey
Emperor - Prometheus
Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine
Green Carnation - Light of Day, Day of Darkness

well...i could come up with so much more...something like this though.

Metallica - The Black Album
nothing much to say here, it's the fucking Black Album, i was maniac about Metallica
Anathema - A Natural Disaster
i feel like Charles Mason wen i listen to Anathema, it feels like every song was meant to me
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - And No More Shall We Part
i can't explain, it's just genuine good music, and fueled my love for traditional rock 'n roll
Darkthrone - Under A Funeral Moon
Wen i went through a grim and evil black metal period, i still think is brilliant
Darren Hayes - This Delicate Thing We've Made
a love/pop/eletronic record, it opened my eyes to a whole new "spectrum" of music
Black Flag - Damaged
that's wen i first heard of Henry Rollins, i live by what he writes.
Enslavement Of Beauty - Megalomania
possibly the best metal album i ever heard
Ìon - Madre Protegenos
Rather new release, but it touched me deeply
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
i don't even have words to write

sheesh...this is tough.

1. katatonia
...all really..but BMD, Discouraged ones, and Tonights Decision had the greatest impact on my life...I was sooo fucked up then.
2. Red House Painters
..again all..spent an entire winter with Red House..
3. Ved Buens Ende-
Those who caress the pale. For its time I think it was just revolutionary..and emotional.
4. Arckanum -Kampen
..just absolutely raw and intense with a sense of some sort of ancient swedish mysticism to it. It was just very different from anything I had heard at he time.
5.Dodheimsgard
-Satanic Art-666 International-Supervillain Outcast- By far my favorite band in the genre..if there is a genre. Carl michael Eide is absolutely a genius in everything he does...Dodheimsgard just makes me insane and manic.
6.Ulver-
Themes from William Blakes "A Marriage of heaven and hell". I hadnt been exposed to anything of its kind before I heard it...it definately opened my mind a bit.
7.Coroner-
Punishment for Decadence---I was young when it came out...that shit just blew my mind over and over.
8.Kataklysm-
Mystical Gate of reincarnation--I just loved that shit...used to scream it..it was raw as shit.
9.Morbid Angel--
Blessed are the Sick--That was my vocal training cd...needless to say I never became a singer. I think people really underestimate Richard Brunelles solos on that CD..trey always got all the credit.
10.Jeff Buckley
Grace---emotional, incredible singer...tragic death for him as well as his father. Just an incredible CD which I have spent many nights pouring over.
