KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has shot down as false Internet speculation that the band is using outside writers for material for its next studio album. Rumors of KORN collaborating with different writers began swirling when Davis told the KLOS radio show "Whiplash" that KORN guitarists James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch "have been writing with different people for a while now, getting songs together" for the follow-up to 2016's "The Serenity Of Suffering" LP. The singer's comments prompted online chatter about whether KORN was seeking outside help in putting songs together for its upcoming album. But in a new interview conducted last Friday (May 25) at the CD-release event for his debut solo album, "Black Labyrinth", Davis firmly denied that KORN was enlisting other people to come up with songwriting ideas for its 13th disc. "[Munky and Head] been working with a couple of different producers," Jonathan said (see video below). "I fucking hate the Internet, man. I say, 'Hey, the guys have been working with a couple of people,' and they say, 'Oh, now they're using writers, and they suck.' I fucking hate it! They're working with two producers. We're writing everything. And when I get done with this [solo] tour, I'm gonna go back, I think, in July for a couple of days and start working with them. We're just working on music. It's just how it works. We're still writing our own music. It's all good. No worries, man — no worries." KORN will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of the group's classic third album, "Follow The Leader", by playing three U.S. concerts at the end of the summer. The shows will take place on September 12 at the Masonic in San Francisco, September 13 at the Palladium in Los Angeles, and September 15 at the Pearl Theater in Las Vegas. It has yet to be confirmed but it is likely that KORN will perform the album in its entirety at those shows. "Follow The Leader" was a massive commercial breakthrough for KORN, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart, selling five million copies in the U.S. and yielding two hits singles in "Got The Life" and "Freak On A Leash". Davis heads to Europe next month in support of his new disc. KORN plans to embark on a full tour of some kind in 2019, although no further details have been revealed.
