Just for curiosity, who has already used a LFAC?

Had this reflection since a couple of days after ready some threads posted here (and on Gearslutz).
So who has already used a LFAC (large frame analog console) such SSL legacy (4000/6000, 9000J/XL)/Duality, or AMS VXS/88R, Neve 80.. or VR/VRP, Amek...etc....

Please specify if it was for tracking or mixing.

More than one time but not very often tbh. Most notable were Neve VR legend, an old Laffont (can't remember the model), Amek Big (fucking ass backward console), Trident 80 and Soundtracs Jade and it was tracking only.

Used 32+ channel consoles for live gigs, and Digi Icon Controllers in the studio, not had the chance to use a LFAC for recording/mixing yet (I guess my A&H R16 doesn't count )

I don't think a modified 24 channel Amek BCII counts so i said never. Really liked working on it, definitely a change from "mousing" around lol. I don't know if i would want to deal with the maintenance though, i think i would still rather have a some racks filled with outboard compressors and eq's and a controller rather than a analog console if i had the money and could chose. I can't imagine how expensive it must be to maintain a large 64+ channels.

Yeah I used multiple MTA's (post Trident-tridents) a year or two back. I really didn't enjoy working on them though because I really prefer things being compartmentalised (I'm quite visual and too many options at once really stresses me out and distracts from the audio), I don't like moving about all the time and analogue consoles suck for reliability - I can't be fucked dealing with scratchy pots, dead channels and patch bays that won't work unless you sit on them.

Thanks to all people who voted;)
Really interesting when you compare number (answer vs view). That give an interesting image about how the AE world is right now...
