I never miss an oppurtunity to brag about the fact that there's an 8 tracks 1 inch (!) Studer A80 in a storage space at my brother's place. Only problem is that it hasn't been serviced for more than a decade. Not even sure I would know how to operate it, let alone aligning the rec and repro heads and setting the bias correctly.

Honestly... lining up a half decent machine isn't THAT bad...

As long as you keep the tape type and speed constant, you don't need to do it EVERY day...
