Ehy Nyleve, yes I do happen to be a prog fan, though I'm probably a relative newbie to the scene. But as for those two bands:

Maharahj:
Extreme technical death metal, probably could be considered progressive for it's sheer insanity, but nothing more. Very fast and intense, lots of riffs with nearly no repitition, and the sounds that range from Slayer, to Cannibal Corpse, to At The Gates, to Amon Amarth, to carcass......

Primordial:
Black/Doomish metal band, fairly progressive, somewhat in the vein of Agalloch or a little like Opeth, probably just because they use a lot of switching between vocal styles. Very dark, doesn't really on fast tempos generally, and uses a nice bit of clean guitarwork. Actually, now that I think of it, the best comparison would probably be a darker and moer melancholic Borknagar, if that's your cup of tea! If not, well, they may not be for you.....

Hope that helps!

Hey Idun, welcome :)

In my 5-disk tray as of right now:

Mayhem: Mediolanum capta est
Diabolical Masquerade: Death's Design
Green Carnation: Journey to the end of the night
Vintersorg: Cosmic Genesis
Amsvartner: The trollish mirror

One of the rare occasions I only have 1 doom cd in there :D
