KARNAK SETI
Emerging from the exotic Madeira Island in Portugal, Karnak Seti present themselves as an exciting melodic death metal band, going against the relaxing atmosphere from the land that saw them born in 2001.
Being natives of a small island, where the main interest is tourism is not an easy task when you want to play heavy metal. There is no metal scene, no venues to play, no specialized media or studios.
The band has struggled to make an impact during all of these years but managed to create a well composed fan base, and managed to release a fair amount of demos until 2005. Cosmic Fate was released in 2003, followed by Karnak Seti (this one with honours of 1st place in a band contest) and Collateral Dreams in 2005. All these demos were recorded by the band in their rehearsal garage, using borrowed equipment from friends.
Since then, the band tried to get into a real studio and record some of their songs. This took them three years to make it financially possible, and in 2008 the demo Stranded by Existence is released. Although not recorded in a metal oriented studio, it still captures the essence of what the band can do.
From the beginning, the name of the band raises a lot of curiosity. Karnak is a temple from ancient Egypt and Seti is the acronym for Search of Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. The name was a suggestion from one of the early days member and it stuck with the band and its fans. In the early days, the topic of the lyrics was extra terrestrial life, but that soon changed to another subject focused on life psychosis and paranoia.
The next step for these guys is recording on a professional studio with a metal oriented producer, get more exposition to the media and try to find a label that allow them to reach a wider variety of public. Another big objective is to play live everywhere possible.
The band is currently formed by:
Claudio Aguiar - Bass
Reno Ramos- Guitar
Nelson Nascimento - Vocals
Luis Barreto - Drums
Tó Jesus - Guitar
Hope you enjoy this work.
