Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based extremists KATAKLYSM have tapped Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, STEEL PANTHER) to mix and master their new album, "Meditations". The disc is slated for an April 2018 release via Nuclear Blast Records. Guitarist Jean-François Dagenais states: "This album has so much to offer that we decided to search for someone outside the box for it. Someone who comes with a fresh outlook and hasn't work with extreme or death metal bands. We wanted someone with a more organic feel but at the same time can pound a mix into your chest with the power and definition it deserves. When Jay accepted to work with us, we knew he would bring just that! So far, the first mixes coming in are incredible. We will be turning some heads on this album, folks. That's all I can say for now. Can't wait!" KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono recently said that he and his bandmates "have secretly been preparing and working throughout the entire year — similar to the way we wrote our classics 'In The Arms Of Devastation', 'Shadows & Dust' and 'Serenity In Fire' — using the best technology available: a rehearsal room, garages and our basements. Just like we did when we first started, four guys with a passion for metal, instruments and no outside world to influence us — only now with way more experience," he said. "We believe we created one of our strongest and most honest album to date. You will be the judge in 2018 like it should be. Our words don't matter but know this, we are coming out guns blazing in 2018!" Formed 25 years ago, KATAKLYSM in 2014 became the first Canadian metal band to ever play South Africa.
