Katatonia – My Twin

Recorded and mixed at Fascintation Street Studios, My Twinis the debut single from Katatonia’s The Great Cold Distance. We’ve all heard the single by now, but the B-sides presented here are of a similarly high quality. The Opium dub of ’My Twin’ takes the song to even darker, bleaker and decidedly more surreal depths, effects laden guitars driving an otherwise minimalistic rework. Very atmospheric, and very cool. ’Displaced’ explores heavier realms, and would fit well with the other songs on TGCD – it is an excellent example of the band’s later sound. ’Dissolving Bonds finished off the CD with style, soaring guitar lines and wistful vocal melodies combining to create a memorable and emotive track. My Twin is a must for the completest Katatonia fan, and any who are fond of the band’s recent direction will appreciate the music.
